Ruins of Ollantaytambo in Peru
Ollantaytambo Ruins
The Inca empire needed to build large storage centers for products and food from distant parts of the empire. These constructions were those warehouses, called "qollca", of what was produced in the "mita" that supplied both the "ayllus" as well as the "paracas" or the dominant elite that ruled together with the Sapa Inca. In Inca society, private property did not exist (only the lands belonging to the Sun and those that belonged to the Sapa Inca), so that each individual participated in the collective work according to their own abilities, receiving immediate help in their moments of need.
